JOSHUA JAMES WITSCH

 Josh

 Written by Terry Conner

Another  “so big”  baby at 11lbs., 5oz!  But then, he did arrive a little late so had more time inside mama to put the weight on.  Joshie was born hungry and all Kari did those first few months was feed him.  Every time I talked to her, she was exhausted and he wanted food.  It’s still true today.  Although Josh is slight of build, he has a tremendous appetite and consumes more food than most adults!  No child’s portion here.  Picky eater?  No way.  And, he’s into plain basic food for the most part.  His favorite meals are macaroni & cheese and (of course) pizza.  But, Joshua, along with his brother and sister, did dine out with his Nana and Bonka frequently and  are definitely into escargot and lobster too!

Speaking of dinners;  we had quite a few at my house and he loved formal type dinner parties.  We were practicing our manners all the time.  One being that it is not polite to start eating until Nana picks up her fork.  This one evening, Josh was extra hungry and I was chatting on and on for about 10 –15 minutes about who knows what.  I felt a little tap on my arm and Josh quietly said, “excuse me Nana, when are you going to pick up your fork?”  Poor thing!  His Nana was starving him.  Needless to say, I picked it up immediately.  I sure was proud of his good manners though.

While they were staying with us, Josh would take my dog, Lady, for a walk every day after school.  It didn’t take long for my dog to adore this boy  and she would anxiously wait for him every afternoon by the front door.  Those two were so cute together and great pals.

Everyone knows how much I love and collect elephants.  One week at school, Josh made his Nana a ceramic elephant all by himself.  Trunk up, of course!  It is the pride of my collection.

Josh lost his two front teeth early because of some accident and spent quite a few years without them.  How badly I felt the night I fixed corn on the cob!  You should have seen how hard that child tried to gum those kernels off the cob.  What a good sport he was, no complaining at all.

Let me tell you about this boy’s smile.  It is truly awesome.  This smile is all over his face and seems to have a wonderful glow shinning from deep within him.  It could melt the coldest heart, and makes all who experience it smile themselves and just plain feel good.

What an affectionate child he is!  He loves giving hugs and is very very good at it.  When Joshie hugs you, you feel like the luckiest person alive.  He is a master cuddler and that is where one can find true contentment………ah…….ummm.

Joshua is very open and honest.  It’s a good thing because every emotion  he is experiencing can be plainly read on that adorable face.  Unlike most children who fight to stay up late; when he is tired he tells you that he wants to go to bed.  One of his most endearing  traits is how hard he tries to please.  Not to worry my love, you please us very much.
